PERMACULTURE is a set of design principles inspired by nature. It allows us (human beings) to meet our needs without trashing the environment. Not only “not trashing,” but actually benefiting the earth and all species. The most popular entry point of permaculture is edible gardening. However, permaculture covers every aspect of the human-created environment.
Design that works against nature is all around us: in our homes; in our workplaces; in our products, organizations, legal codes and more. It wastes a lot of time, energy, and money. It’s costing the planet, and it’s costing us personally. And it turns out that we, everyday people, are the ones in the best position to fix things.
By practicing the principles of permaculture design, you can raise your standard of living while also improving your community and addressing global problems. Welcome to the permaculture community!
“Although the problems of the world are increasingly complex, the solutions remain embarrassingly simple.” — Bill Mollison, a co-founder of the permaculture design movement
